Welcome, University Students
We invite you to recharge, connect, learn, and grow in the spaces we care for together. Whether you're taking a quiet walk, working on a class project, or digging in with fellow students, there's a place here for you.

Visit
Whether you're seeking a moment of calm, space to reflect, or a break between classes, our gardens, trails, and natural areas offer room to breathe, think, and reconnect with yourself, with others, and with the natural world.
Nichols Arboretum is just steps from Central Campus, while Matthaei Botanical Gardens is a short drive from North Campus and offers plenty of metered parking. Both are free and open every day.
Student Organizations
Interested in connecting with nature and with other students? MBGNA partners with student-led groups focused on sustainability, food systems, and ecological care. From stewardship days to growing food on campus, these organizations offer hands-on ways to build community and make an impact.

Research
Our landscapes are living laboratories. MBGNA supports student research, capstones, independent studies, and class projects across disciplines. From ecology and sustainability to art, architecture, and more. Our staff are here to help connect your ideas to the resources we steward. Faculty and graduate students are also invited to partner with us on course-based field experiences and community-engaged research.
Internships
MBGNA offers a wide variety of paid internships designed with flexibility in mind. With many unique job categories, our internships span areas like native plant horticulture, sustainable agriculture at the Campus Farm, education and interpretation, collections and conservation, and more. Whether you’re passionate about hands-on growing, community engagement, or ecological research, there’s likely a role that fits.
