The Ann Arbor Backyard Beekeepers meet on the second Tuesday of the month from 7-9 PM.
This month's featured speaker is Steve McDaniel, who will delve into the theme of "The Business of Beekeeping".
The Business of Beekeeping
If you find yourself with more honey than you can consume, should you sell it or give it away? The decision is up to you, but it's important to weigh the pros and cons and consider the necessary questions to make an informed choice. The short answer is: Yes! Selling honey or other bee products can help you recoup your investment and purchase new equipment. Starting on a small scale is relatively easy, but there are some rules you would be wise to follow. Please join us in welcoming Steve McDaniel, who will share his experiences, insights, and advice.
Steve McDaniel has been a freelance nature photographer since 1975, a beekeeper since 1979, and a Master Beekeeper since 1994. He has served as the President of three Maryland bee associations and mentors many new beekeepers. He teaches classes, leads workshops, and gives talks on various aspects of beekeeping. His primary educators are the bees themselves, and he believes he learns something new each time he opens a beehive. He also gains insights from fellow beekeepers by attending numerous bee meetings. You can reach him at [email protected].
7-9 PM, Matthaei Botanical Gardens auditorium. Zoom presentation. Free and open to the public. Paid parking available
