1928-B:27 Double. 8.6 (Sym. 1925). Red.

1928-B-d:087 Double type; medium size; very early. Maroon, with a glistening sheen, brightened by yellow stamens and scarlet-tipped carpels. Very tall; floriferous; stems strong and erect but diverging. Foliage good. An early, decorative sort for the garden, but the blooms lack fullness and size except on well-established plants in favorable seasons. The excellent color is well retained and the flowers keep well. “It would seem that ‘maroon’ is somewhat misleading for the color of this flower. It is a very rich dark crimson, without sufficient purple to make the color maroon.”—Fewkes. “One of the earliest and a very good color.”—Boyd.

1940-Cat-CHN:52 8.6 Deep garnet with a sheen which gives a very bright appearance in the garden. Some blooms will have a center of golden stamens, while well established plants often produce full double flowers. With us, the earliest double variety in bloom. The tall, strong stems with excellent foliage make this a very attractive variety for the garden. L. D.

1976-K:014 Double – Red – Very Early. Very tall. Medium size, maroon, with glistening sheen, brightened by yellow stamens and scarlet-tipped carpels. Floriferous; stems strong and erect but diverging. Foliage good. An early, decorative sort for the garden, but the blooms lack fullness and size except on well-established plants in favorable seasons. The excellent color is well retained and the flowers keep well. Stamens are very showy in blooms not fully developed. Midseason.
