This course is intended for a broad audience as an introduction to mushrooms, including their identification, ecology, and cultivation.
This course will include both classroom presentations and observation, plus a foray to explore the Garden grounds for fungi to collect and bring back to the classroom for examination.
Is there a mushroom you always wondered about? We encourage you to bring mushroom specimens to the class for discussion. Bring your lunch! We will also be cooking mushrooms for the class to enjoy, perhaps even edible wild fungi we collect during our foray on Garden grounds.
Are mushrooms a healthy addition to one’s diet? This question, and the use of fungi as food and mycomedicinals, will be addressed.
Price includes a $25.00 supply fee, which covers materials for mushroom cultivation bags that participants will be able to take home.
