"Out on a Limb" Sam Majeed Art Exhibit

September 7 - November 24 at Matthaei Botanical Gardens

Reception: Sunday November 24, 2pm-4pm

Sam Majeed is a visual artist and muralist from New York City. He paints juxtaposed buildings & trees in vivid colors, sometimes including landmarks from major cities.  In 2008 he started selling prints of his work around West 4th St and Houston St. in the Village area of Manhattan. After learning from other artists, that San Francisco was the most lucrative area for emerging artists. He moved to Oakland CA in 2012 and rented a storefront window in downtown Oakland, for one year, to display his paintings.

From there He garnered a core clientele base and began to see the possibilities of making a career out of his passion. He branded his art as a business, “Dopamine Colors”, and started selling prints reflecting the Bay Area to tourists by the Pier in San Francisco. From the success in The Bay, He was able to duplicate his process in Atlanta and back to New York. Expanding his brand into hand-painted clothing, gallery showcases, and large-scale community murals. He enjoys traveling to new urban cities and interpreting the environment through his work.

He recently relocated to Detroit MI to be a part of the artist mural movement to revitalize the city.

He studied Fine Arts at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) and SFAI (San Francisco Art Institute). But, Sam honed most of his skills and style outside of the classroom. He takes pride in being a "real" ity creative and taking his work directly to the streets
