collage of nature images and words

Join us for a winter edition of Art in the Arb! You'll be inspired by the beauty of nature and invited to explore your creativity, all while connecting with others.

RIVER NOTES inspires a relationship with our waterways. In this two-part workshop, Stephanie will share her personal journey with water through a collection of photographs from the Detroit River.

The first Saturday will focus on learning about local waterways and practices of stewardship—for our rivers, lakes, communities, and ourselves. Participants will begin an art project inspired by water using mixed media techniques, including watercolor and experimental mark-making.

Participants will reconvene the following Saturday to deepen their work by adding collage and additional layers. The session will also include guided discussion on the benefits of artmaking for reflection, connection, and well-being. You’ll also be encouraged to incorporate both digital and analog techniques.

No prior art experience is required; all levels are welcome.
