U-M Student Event: Native Plug Planting

-

Friday, September 27 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, the Ecological Restoration Club will be planting native wetland plants in Cummings Fen at Matthaei Botanical Gardens. All U-M students are welcome to join!  Returning native plants to the area will provide critical food and habitat for native insects and other animal species. With the help of previous planting efforts, native plants have already returned to many areas of the fen where invasive common buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) was removed in winter 2021. Come help restore the recently cleared area of the fen by planting native wetland plants!

Plan to meet at 1:30 pm behind the Huron Valley Tennis Club, 3235 Cherry Hill Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105, which is directly adjacent to Cummings Fen. We will end work at 3:30 pm to be back on campus by 4:00 pm. We also need help with carpooling, so if you are willing and able to drive members to Matthaei Botanical Gardens, please sign up at the link below!
