The snowstorm on Saturday, January 19 was beautiful but things turned cold and windy the next day. Photographer John Metzler visited Matthaei on Sunday morning to enjoy and photograph the snowy scenes. He was surprised to see another visitor walking the trails in near-zero weather and by the number of footprints in the snow from visitors who arrived before he did at 9 a.m. that morning. It was cold, but it was also the first major snowstorm of the season. More than enough reason to brave the wind chill and enjoy a winter nature scene.
