Medicinal Garden information:

Used to treat irritations of the mucus membranes such as a sore throat.

Due to its high mucilage content, consisting of insoluble polysaccharides which form a viscous material after ingestion, slippery elm bark may be used to treat irritations of the skin and mucus membranes, such as a sore throat.
