May decrease glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes

Preliminary clinical evidence that prickly pear cactus used orally can decrease blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Nopal’s high fibrous polysaccharide content, including pectin, can lower blood glucose and lipid levels.
