Plant derived stenols and sterols are naturally occurring substances in plants. They are present in many fruits, vegetables, vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, cereals and legumes. Research has shown these substances work to block the absorption of cholesterol in the small intestine. This lowers the low density [bad] cholesterol (LDL) without lowering the high density [good] cholesterol (HDL) and they dont interfere with cholesterol lowering medications.
