Friday, June 1, Ann Arbor Farm and Garden (AAF&G) joined Matthaei-Nichols Director Bob Grese and Curator David Michener for an informative and scenic tour through the Nichols Arboretum Peony Garden. David gave us a glimpse into the conflicting history of peonies and discussed the representation and inclusion of peonies from across the globe into our collection. Bob provided insight on the original collection from W.E Upjohn and pointed out some distinct features of the beautiful flowers. Ann Arbor Farm & Garden has generously offered their continued support of the peony garden in preparation for the garden’s 100th anniversary in 2022, when the American Peony Association will host its annual conference in Ann Arbor to mark the anniversary. AAF&G is helping plan and host the celebration, and we are incredibly thankful for their partnership.
