Two Great Locations, One Organization

Updated October 15, 2021:

We no longer require reservations to visit the conservatory, display gardens, and visitor center at Matthaei Botanical Gardens!

We are now open Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 – 4:30, and Wednesdays 10 – 8.

Visitors entering the visitor center and conservatory will be asked to complete the ResponsiBLUE screening. Please click the button below to access.

Per University of Michigan policy, all visitors are required to wear a mask in the visitor center and conservatory.

The trails and natural areas at both Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum remain open for public use, daily sunrise to sunset.
Parking at Matthaei is now enforced. Please use the parking kiosks located at the main entrances to the Matthaei Visitor Center. Matthaei-Nichols members enjoy free parking. Follow instructions on the kiosks and enter your member number.

  • The visitor center is closed
  • We are not issuing permits for the spaces in front of the peony garden on Washington Hts.
When visiting the Arb or Matthaei, please observe the recommended distancing of 6 ft for your safety and that of other visitors, and wear a face covering. Read Univ Michigan updates here.
