Wildflower and Native Plant Sale at Matthaei

Cost: Free

A sale of native herbaceous plants, many grown here by staff and volunteers. Two-day sale. Free admission. Members receive a discount on plant purchases. (NOTE NEW DATES for this sale: Aug. 17 & 18, 2019.)

Matthaei-Nichols member? Join us for a members-only pre-sale hour Sat., Aug. 17, 9-10 am. Shop the sale early and enjoy coffee, tea, and breakfast munchies.

Why plant native plants? They are water-resilient, suited to our region and climate, and they attract beneficial pollinators and other species. Read about the benefits of native plants at the United States Forest Service website.

Great Lakes Gardens at Matthaei

The Great Lakes Gardens celebrate our region’s natural heritage and re-create many of the special habitats found here such as dune, limestone plain, and prairie. 

Some of the plants offered in our Wildflower and Native Plant Sale are growing in the Great Lakes Gardens at Matthaei. Visit the garden during the sale to see these plants and others in their unique habitats.
