White Water & Prickly Plants – A Story of Elzada Clover

Come explore what you need to travel down a dangerous twisting river! Learn about Elzada Clover, a pioneer in the field of botany who was brave enough to face those fast white waters. Retrace Elzada’s steps as she became the first woman to successfully raft down the Colorado River while observing the plants of the Sonoran Desert! Recommended ages 5-12. Free, but registration requested. This activity at Matthaei Botanical Gardens takes visitors on an adventure through all three house of the conservatory. Visitors will learn about the history and story of Elzada Clover and about the prickly plants in our arid house.
