Listening to the Agave: Featuring the American Agave Shakuhachi Flute

Matthaei Botanical Gardens
1800 N. Dixboro Rd
Ann Arbor, MI 48105 United States

February 6, 2016 @ 7:00 pm

Cost: Free

A concert of music composed for wind instrument. Not just any instrument, this unique flute was created from the stalk of the American agave that bloomed at Matthaei Botanical Gardens in the summer of 2014. Michael Gould, a professor in the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance, and flutist Michael Chikuzen will perform original works for the instrument, a kind of Japanese shakuhachi flute. If you saw the agave blooming last year you won’t want to miss this one-time-only concert. Stay tuned for online ticketing on our website for this event.
