PERSPECTIVE: small

A community art exhibit at Matthaei Botanical Gardens.
Small is a matter of perspective. From our eyes, we cannot see the pollen that the bee finds so enticing and such a diet would not sustain us. Nor can we see the individual strokes of a hummingbird’s wings as it gracefully sips from a flower. Should we imagine ourselves the size of tiny fairies, perhaps we could pick pollen as the bee does, or flit our wings as fast as a hummingbird. For this art exhibit, we are seeking ways in which the artist explores an alternative perspective from human eyes. Particularly, we would like to dial the focus in on elements of the natural world that we consider “small.”
